Situation update of identified cases and responses in Japan-6

New confirmed case and cases under investigation

Additional 18 cases of the novel influenza A(H1N1) have been reported from two areas: Kobe City (8 cases) and Osaka Prefecture (9 cases). One case was reported as under investigation form Toyonaka City, Osaka. All of the confirmed cases were high-school students except one from Osaka Prefecture, who is a junior high student.

Local governments have been doing some kinds of control measures. Hyogo prefectural government office decided to close all the schools including nursery school and daycare centers for the elderly in six wards of Kobe City; Higashinada-ku, Nada-ku, Chuo-ku, Hyogo-ku, Kita-ku, and Nagata-ku, and Ashiya City from May 16, 2009 to May 22. Other local government have been doing school closure and advising to either cancel or postpone large gatherings such as festivals, and so no.
